Year 10 EOTC Camp and Activities Week

Dear Parents and Guardians, In the week beginning December 1 all Year 10 students will be taking part in EOTC activities. The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you of what choices will be available and provide your child with the means to opt for their preferred activity.

OPTIONS AVAILABLE
MARLBOROUGH SOUNDS THREE DAY EXPEDITION
This will be a 3 day expedition with each pupil spending 1 day tramping, 1 day sea-          kayaking, and 1 day cycling. Smiths’ Farm Park Anakiwa will be the accommodation base.  The enclosed itineraries and information will explain the exact proposed format of each trip.  All gear will be transported to Smiths Farm Park for the trampers so only day packs will be carried.  A van will accompany the cyclists on the proposed rides, and good quality mountain bikes will be provided. All kayaking activities will be carried out under the professional management of Marlborough Sounds Adventure Company. The cost will be $380 per student.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES
Local EOTC Programme: We have been working hard to put together an EOTC programme in and around Tawa for Year 10’s.  The focus of this programme is one of citizenship and social awareness.  The programme will involve four days of activities including a high ropes course, a nature walk as well as laser paintball and the aquatic centre.  Also, all students will participate in a day of community service in Tawa where they will have an opportunity to contribute to, and benefit their local community.  Students will focus on working as a team throughout many of the activities, developing essential life skills including self management, relating to others and participating and contributing.  This four day EOTC programme costs $75.
